Except it’s not. In fact, it could be going in the exact opposite direction. At the moment things aren’t proceeding at all. But hopefully by the end of the week they’ll be proceeding in someway or another. Either way will probably involve me getting some kind of job, most likely the part time kind. There might also be some moving involved. So don’t be alarmed if I don’t blog for a few days (all 1 people who read), it just means I’m somewhere that I haven’t organised net access yet.
But everything should be sorted out very soon.
Also I still haven’t seen Star Wars, so no one can call me a nerd anymore.
Firstly, a nice blog by a computer security dude who is fed up with Windows. Obvious link to the topic.
Secondly, came second in a game of the real monopoly last night (and early this morning). Got home at 2:45am. I’m kinda sleepy. But I did beat the two guys who tried to claim dominance, using my usual board game trick – convince others that you aren’t a threat. Another obvious link to topic.
Thirdly, it seems that my rant on hats still has relevance. I’m hoping to choose a hat by Monday morning. And obviously I ain’t refering to hats, but my career path. If you want to know more, make a comment on this post.
Firstly, Kimmorleys kicking game in the first origin match was horrendous. Bad placement, kicks going dead, no pressure on the recievers…. He couldn’t do a single thing right, he even missed a conversion attempt. Obviously this wasn’t all his fault, but his style which requires the forwards giving him lots of room to play was quite different to the small, agile pack that Ricky Stuart had picked. BK needs big beefy forwards, and he didn’t have them.
So who else could we pick? Obviously it’ll go to Joey Johns because selectors don’t go on current form, but on some kinda weird system that involves how good you’re rated to be by the supposed experts (that is how so many Dragons got a spot despite playing only a handful of club matches between them in the past few years). I’d say go with Tim Smith from parramatta (nrl.com doesn’t have who he played juniors for, but the amount of kiwis playing for qld makes it seem that anyone can play). From what I’ve seen he’s the best halfback around this year, and if he’s backed up well by the experience of Trent Barrett I think the youth factor would be diminished.
But really anyone would be better than BK with the current strategy.
That was what I actually said this morning durning the cool down at the end of my training session. And it wasn’t a pansy “i don’t wanna do anymore” excuse. The blood drained from my head, my body went all weak, and my vision faded.
I didn’t actually collapse, so that’s good. But it took me about 5 minutes of deep breathing to be able to stand up again (I tried a few more times, and almost fainted each time). Luckily there wasn’t any chest pain, so it wasn’t a heart attack or anything, but it does mean that my body was seriously not happy about something.
I think it was a combo of:
- Not being able to sleep much due to “the hat” issue
- Not having exercised much in months
- Having put on 20odd kg this year
- It was 6 in the morning and still dark.
- The odd headaches I get some days.
It was either one of them, or possibly some kinda demonic attack…. but I’m thinking that any one of those problems above could of done it. So all of them is probably a good sign that I ain’t even close to a dimension that resembles fit.
I’m going to try the exercise thing again, I think this is the third or fourth effort this year. The differenc is that this time involves 0600 hours, and a former army training guy. Luckily this is something being run by blokes from my church, so hopefully it won’t be too bootcampy.
But if you don’t hear from me again, it means that I’ve been pushed too hard and dropped dead from all that grease that I eat.
Hopefully this will run for a bit longer than my last efforts, and since there are other guys involved the social aspect will help. Although since it is run on the central coast if I ever get out of this crazy town I’ll stop doing it by default. Oh well.
It’s cold inside too. Damn lack of insulation in the burbs. At least I’ve got the essentials to keep warm, flannel and tracksuit pants. I’m also thinking I might need a hat.
The problem is choosing which hat…. one could be seen as “changing the system from within”, while the other is completely rebellious. I’m already sorta wearing the rebellious hat, but I’ve been questioning that direction recently. Plus the “system” hat does look nice, and they do unofficially want me.
It all really depends on I what I want to do long term, but Im not the kinda person who likes to plan the current day, let alone make long term plans. Crap, being a graduate has it’s downsides, all this choice means I need to make a choice. And saying yes to one thing is saying no to all the other options.
I haven’t even thought about what colour the hat will be yet….
I have been alot over the last few weeks (and months). Today things got quite a bit more complex, I can’t reveal anything yet (to all 2 of my readers). Lets just say that I know how this guy feels.
In other news I found a nice fun web game. It’s good and simple enough for anyone to play.
Also it seems to be very wet. Like constantly raining, where’s Noah, kinda wet.
But this is quite well done, and is part of an actual performance. Now I think Idea of North have a rival for best acapella group. These guys even do actions.
(for those who like to know what they’re clicking – its a video of an acapella group doing nintendo themes).

So, now on Foxtel Digital, the top Australian pay-tv guys are now providing “iAds” or interactive advertisments. If you believe the hype then you’ll see that Foxtel are providing a way for you to straight away respond to the ad by the Commonwealth Bank or whatever. “The launch of interactive advertising on Foxtel Digital builds on the control we give our subscribers over the content available on our platform, while giving advertisers a new and unique way of communicating with the consumer segments that matter most to them.” Cool, now I don’t have to wait until I next go out to respond to this great deal or whatever.
WTF????
We are talking about subsciption television. This was originally marketed in Australia as bring an ad-less alternative to commerical television. Commercial TV is funded purely by ad revenue, so I understand the massive amount of Ads. But I pay money (lots of it) for Pay-TV. This funding should be providing enough cash for them to survive, yet the ads keep coming. And now the ads are being sold to us a “feature”. Now when I move out I obviously won’t be even thinking of paying for stuff that is not much different to normal tv, even though the few shows I actually like are on foxtel (e.g. call for help, dead like me, some doco stuff).
It’s good to see that the foxtel guys have been able to slowly drift from their original marketing push (it had Bart Simpson skateboarding on the logo) to having people pay for more of the same that they get for free.
I’ve been trying to add a picture to my profile, so I’ll be on the side overthere -> but it seems that you can only have a URL of 68 characters or less. This seems kinda weird when my google email account has 2gigs of spce. It’s not like me having a long picture profile URL will bring their servers to a crashing halt.
Plus they don’t like URLs from Imageshack so I can’t use them to host, I guess this means finding somewhere to hide a picture on some other webserver I may have access to. And no I won’t use picasa or anything, I have linux. Windows programs for some reason don’t like running on non windows machines.
I should have something up there by the end of the week. And yes, I will add links to all my old archived content on my other server. That link will work, so you can find whatever it is you’re looking for (as long as it ain’t too old). I’ll be hopefully redoing that site to just host old content like newsletters and chaoticolumns. Eventually.
