Back on the coast

Uncategorized — frozensummers on September 30, 2005 at 5:17 am

I’ve been on the coast since wednesday on ICS guys retreat. We basically sat around and played PS2, watched DVDs and the like. We did visit the beach, and played a bit of soccer there once, and some of the guys did jump in (and then get out quickly). But it was typical computer nerd stuff…. except singstar – but thats a video game so it doesn’t count (NB. I’ll pwn j00 at singing spice girls)

Now I’ll be here the rest of the weekend for my motorcycle pre-learners course, hanging with old-church buddies, and eating my parents food. Uni is back next week, and I should be getting my bike L’s on wednesday. And then I’ll go bike shopping…. I’ve already done some window shopping, using the “just looking” line, but I might chat to a few more sales-dudes this time.

A week of independence

Uncategorized — frozensummers on September 22, 2005 at 10:16 pm

Well…. I’m not dead or dying, broke or hungry. Sure the internet and pay-tv withdrawals are hard, but they are able to be coped with. Especially once uni goes back and I have no time for tv, and access to the fat uni net pipe.

And for those who like the unexpected, a SL alumni social has beeen organised. But Geoff & Liz have organised it, so it doesn’t really count. Especially since they are currently raising support, and are probably using this as a way to gain some supporters. Not that there is anything wrong with that….

Next week we have strategic planning on Mon-Wed morning at epping baptist church, so if anyone in that area wants to hang out for lunch and stuff I’ll be free to do so.

All your internet belongs to not me.

I have no net in my new place, so it’s either net cafes, or going into uni to do internet stuff. I’m having severe withdrawals…. and I had 70 emails to go through after not checking since Friday….

Now if someone could set us up the internet my new place would be awesome. But having a shopping centre downstairs is awesome…. just ride the lift down and get the groceries, or Gloria Jeans coffee, or a kebab.

The Office

Uncategorized — frozensummers on September 15, 2005 at 6:02 am

I’m finally going to the Crusade Office tomorrow to work. Or at least get shown around and told how I’ll be working in the future.

Also have some planning thing in the morning, and I’ve gotta get home and pack so I can move at some point.

And since I’m free and in Auburn almost all of next week, I’m planning on catching up with some people.

Finally, Avast! Talk Like A Pirate Day is next Monday, ye scurvy sea dogs. Arrrrr!

Prayer and Forms

Uncategorized — frozensummers on September 13, 2005 at 12:14 am

That’s all I’ve done this week. I spent all of monday in various forms of prayer, hopefully when we start term 4 of uni the prayer will all be answered, and the whole uni will convert or something. Although it is surprising how tiring a day of prayer can be.

And I’ve finally almost finished my forms. I only need to fix a couple of details (which I don’t have with me to do) and I’ll be all official.

Changing Address Part 2

Uncategorized — frozensummers on September 11, 2005 at 12:46 pm

I now have a new actual address. Where you might ask? The Auburn Party House of course. Although it is really an apartment, not a house. But that’s not the point.

I’ll actually start living there from this weekend onwards. And if you want the actual address you’ll have to contact me.

Motorbike Pre-Learner Course

Uncategorized — frozensummers on September 8, 2005 at 9:46 pm

I’ve booked it (for October 1&2), so I’m now one step closer to meeting Jesus ;-)

Seriously though, as much as Motorbikes are more dangerous than Cars, they are much more fun. Although the concern and worry shown by certain members of the opposite sex has been flattering (and worrying in its own way), I’m still going to get a bike. At the moment it looks like a shiny new Yamaha Virago will be my noble steed, but I’m still open to second hand bargains when I go shopping.

I also got a nice certificate in the mail today certifiyng that I’m an “Authorised Missionary”. Even though I haven’t finished filling in the important forms (like how they pay me, and the background check authorisation). Oh well. The postie man even delivered it to my door cos it said “Do Not Bend.”

Which brings me to a nice comment to wrap both todays stories together – the neighbours across the road just got a brand new postie bike. Nice colour, but not enough chrome for my liking.

200 KB/s

That’s how fast downloading a nice 40minute IPTV show took at uni today (It was DigitalLifeTV). It probably would of gotten faster, but it finished while still gaining speed. And yes, that means it was a slow day in the practical labs today.

Also we had some guy with Dr. before his name come in and give a talk on how faith and science are compatible. Ending with the choice of accepting on faith that a God made the universe, or there is an infinite number of parallel universes (as that would be required to get the odds of making one that supports life). Probably the best science type apologetic talk I’ve heard, but one could argue that in a postmodern world such talks are reaching the end of their usefullness. But then we were aiming this event at science students, who still accept the idea of absolute truth (rather than arts students who don’t)

Changing Address – Part 1

Uncategorized — frozensummers on September 6, 2005 at 8:50 pm

Since it looks like I’ll be living in rented places for a long while, and rented places have a habit of making you move frequently, I’ve decided to get a PO Box so my mailing address doesn’t change constantly.

So to send me real mail the address is:
PO Box 1120, Epping, 1710

And since I’ll be moving by the end of the month at the latest, I’ll have a changed actual address soon.

Churches, Columns and Housing (oh my)

Uncategorized — frozensummers on September 4, 2005 at 5:14 am

I’ve been visiting a few churches over the last while, and I think I’ve made my choice. But we’ll see what happens. I may also of found a place to live, but we’ll see how that develops. In both cases people are really excited about me choosing what I may choose if in fact I actually choose the decisions I’ve almost chosen.

I also put up another brand new ChaotiColumn. It’s about the destruction of Nineveh. And it makes more sense than the end of the first paragraph of this post.
