Well…. went for a ride upto my parents place on the central coast on Saturday, mainly so I could do some xmas shopping (with my parents car) and leave the gifts there, rather than strapping them to the bike.
So I go up the old road, fun and some of the damp/shady patches made the ride interesting. Unfortunately my parents live a bit further north than the end of the old road, so I need to take the freeway for 10 minutes.
As I turn into the on-ramp, I realise I’m going a little fast, and I’m going to hit the “concrete triangle” that creates the left turn to the on-ramp. So I reduce the throttle and throw her a bit further over….
….And she responds by bucking like a bronco and turning hard to the left, as a result my left leg slipped backwards off the footpeg and bounced off the ground, came straight up and my knee bounced off the tank. I pulled on the brakes (as I was now heading towards the shiny metal barrier) and tried to change down gears…. and my leg (in its combo of pain and throbbing numbness) didn’t want to work.
So she stalled, and since my leg wasn’t working I ended up laying her down on the side (after she’d stopped) as I simultaneously fell off and clutched my leg.
Some friendly passer-bys stopped and picked up the bike (which was fine), and checked on me. I gave my leg a once over, and realised nothing was broken or dislocated, just sprained and bruised.
So I got up and rode off (once my heartrate dropped to a much more normal level).
No permanent damage…. but the leg hurts (when walking and stuff, riding is fine). Dencorub makes it feel much better though.
