16 hours of 123 students

Yep. 8 classes a week. With 2 hours a class that means I get to spend 16 hours a week “working” for the Computing Department.

Of course working essentially involves:

  • Answering Questions: The same ones, over and over. You hear them all by the first class each week. And I’ve been teaching this subject for years….
  • Marking Assignments: If they run the subject the same as last semester then I’ll only be able to do this on the week the assignments are due. Which sucks, because it means that I’ll be flat out for 4 weeks (out of 12), and not marking the rest. Marking basically just means making sure they can follow instructions and do the stuff.
  • Surfing the net: This is what I do when I’m bored and have nothing to do (i.e. all the time I’m not marking).

Luckily I get paid $29.87/hour. Which makes up for all the boredom. Which means $477.92 a week, or $5735.04 for the semester. Not bad.
