My bike is back + free stuff
Well…. I had a very interesting day.
First, I caught the train down to get my bike (from SCM lane cove). And did so. It was raining a little when I rode off, but otherwise it was great to be back on the bike. It was also nice and shiny thanks to being washed and having lashing of new chrome.
Free thing #1 – pink slip – because when your paying 1000 worth of insurance, such a small thing doesn’t matter to them
So, I rode home to the coast…. in the only way one can after having not ridden in over 8 weeks (note the time length, it’ll be important later), via the old road. Awesome ride, the new bars – while technically identical to the old ones, just seemed to be positioned better or something. Sweeping down the hill to brooklyn I was in the groove…. steering with my arse and everything.
Then, my battery decided that sitting around doing nothing waiting for parts from Japan for over 8 weeks wasn’t something it enjoyed…. and so I endured 30ish kmh as my bike surged and spluttered its way from brooklyn to road warriors. I just made it. Then the helpful locals did their thing…. we pulled the battery out, hooked it up to the charger and then I sat around and drank a latte (quite nice actually, better than uni coffee – although I’ve constantly heard that it was bad, but it was my first there)
After an hour or so, through the battery back in, rode home while doing my best not to brake or indicate. Got home. Hooked battery to my charger at home.
Then, my mum says “you got a package”…. I was slightly surprised, and opened it up to reveal my new trendy Draggin combat pants (in red, because their faster), and some chinos, and some of that knee armour….
Free thing #2 – 2 sets of knee armour…. the Velcro seems useless, but I’m sure I could work out a way to strap them on like my old soccer shin pads.
Even better (and this is why I was surprised) was that I ordered them (direct from the draggin jeans website) only yesterday – and they said 2-4 days, and I’m in the sticks…. it usually takes longer than they said.
So my bike is back, I have new pants, and I’ve finally stopped at road warriors…. I think it counts as a good day overall.
