It is finished. Look, over there <-
I pulled out my good stuff for this, 2 kinds of pencils and a good eraser. I know I should of used something lighter than an HB for the initial sketching (2B?), but the nice dark 6B was great for the final line.
Then the image was scanned, and messed with in Gimpshop – level shifting to darken up the lines, and the eraser tool to smooth out the lines. Then it was filled and put in place. Layered in with a darken layer style, and the skull & crossbones cut from the background and placed on top.
Now thats done I can get back to playing Test Drive Unlimited on my PS2.

Well…. I spent time today working on tweaking the skull to the left. I started out playing with a new program I found called Pixen. It was pretty good, and a “very powerful MSPaint” just like their spiel. It wasn’t the best, and I got sick of how it seemed to handle windows and layers – I’d go to delete a section of graphic I’d selected – and the layer would disappear, never to return. I gave up trying to work out how to tell which window my keystrokes would affect.
Then I switched to the old standard of Gimpshop, which usually only frustrates me in understanable ways (cos it runs in X11). Although I found a new issue when I was working on the hot rod flames (using the curves tools). I was dragging points around, and I moved the cursor a smidgen outside the window. Then it all disappeared in a puff of nothing – obviously something thought I was trying to drag a point on a curve to the desktop (which doesn’t even work on a conceptual level) and the gimp went to sleep.
Tomorrow (or later), I’ll print a copy of the skull and crossbones and freehand the flames – then scan it back and make it look evil.
And if it looks evil enough…. it may find a warmer home….
Yes its a punisher skull…. from the movie incarnation – because it looks the coolest. Once I get some time to bring out the gimp I’ll be adding some crossbones (pirates rock) and flames (demons rock, especially the motorcycle riding kind).

I’m at home (not surprising – its not like I work alot). I have a few things planned.
1. Working on my next tune. 2. Tweaking that skull on the left. It needs a few things to reference some other mythos…. 3. Possibly resurrecting the pointy one.
Secondly, although I really love music like cradle and slayer, my picking skillz aren’t up to a level to allow such things yet – I don’t have the speed and accuracy. I did try such things, but they didn’t work. Especially in this tune….
Thirdly, this song is based off a song that was written and edited by committee and had its key parts lifted from elsewhere. The bridge was very similar to the bridge of one the songs I wrote in Mus202 (and was added to give a lyrical section that was more singable by the ladies), the chorus was lifted from inspired by a Top40 pop song (one with sodomy in the lyrics).
My next song (half written) will have some (pagan) lyrics…. and is a classic G C D song. It will be more metal though…. but not the thrash kind.
Hopefully that song will be out at the end of the week – and they’ll keep coming regularly (inspired by Jonathan Coulton, who wrote Code Monkey and did the Thing A Week Project).

It is finished. RWT Redux, a nice piece of instrumental progressive metal based on what was originally a worship song I wrote back in 2004. This version is a little different, the lyrics based on Psalm 28 an Psalm 2:11 have been removed. The guitars are louder. The drums are faster. The Bass is thicker. The Harpischord is spacey. The lead guitar exists…. I borrowed an embedded mp3 player from the Polyamory Weekly Podcast (That’s be at the top). It should allow it to stream, if not: Download Here (hosted by Ourmedia)
As always it is licensed under Creative Commons So feel free to share it around, and any questions, comments and feedback to the usual places.

Yep. That sums up what I was doing today in garage band. Plus some strings in the bridge. The Harpsichords are filling the role that vocals would normally fill in the original version.
Now all I need to do is lay down a few more guitar tracks…. and then she’ll be done.

In certain, extreme situations, the law is inadequate. In order to shame its inadequacy, it is necessary to act outside the law. To pursue – natural justice. This is not vengeance. Revenge is not a valid motive, it’s an emotional response. No, not vengeance. Punishment.
