2 short things

Firstly, the title of my last post gives away the whole story. It is a borrowed title from the works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Specifically it is the Holmes tale where Moriarty is first introduced to the world.

Secondly, read this if you are a Christian and want to correspond with me. You also might like to read it anyway no matter who you are.

  1. If you don’t mind me asking, what’s the connection between the site you linking to and communicating with you?

  2. Just that if they want to discuss Christianity they better have reasoned responses to those 25 points.

If you want to just talk about my hair, then such reading is not required.

  3. Well, I’d suggest that there are points where I’d simply acknowledge the points made and say “So what?” For instance, the fact that the Bible is not inerrant does not delegitimise Christianity.

What about if I want to sit down with you and just have a beer?

    My shout, of course.

  4. I have no problem with beer, it would just have to fit into my action packed schedule.

  5. Although, I might point out that beer is a mind-enhancing substance and given your principled objection to anti-depressants, you may not wish to consume beer.

  6. Yes, but beer is a depressant and I usually only drink the good stuff for taste purposes.

  7. So you’ll take a depressant that alters your state of consciousness, but not an anti-depressant that merely serves to balance your serotonin level to a place that it should be?

Could you please explain this discrepancy?

  8. One occasional beer does not alter my “state of consciousness”.

Continuous prescription medication on the other hand is likely to have far reaching effects, especially on my bank balance.

Then there are side effects – “Many users of SSRIs complain of apathy, lack of motivation, emotional numbness, feelings of detachment, and indifference to surroundings.” All of which describe my current mood and aren’t something I want more of.

As I said, considering that you would be eligible for a Health Care Card I would be more than happy to fund your anti-depressants until you find yourself fulltime work.

Yes, I appreciate this concern and I must admit that I experienced this with other medication. But the medication I’m currently on, Efexor, is not a SSRI and as such has no such side effects. Maybe you should ask your doctor about that?

  10. “Maybe you should ask your doctor about that?”
My doctor? Its been like, 10 years since I last saw a medical professional. That was just a tetanus booster.

As far as I know every GP on the coast closed their books long ago to new bulk bill patients.

  11. Then come down to Sydney. I walked in off the street with my Medicare Card into a Pitt street clinic and saw someone within twenty minutes.

More to the point, how about you get away from home for a few days and stay at my place? Seriously, you’d be doing me a favour – I live on my own and I’d actually quite like the company.

  12. “Then come down to Sydney. I walked in off the street with my Medicare Card into a Pitt street clinic and saw someone within twenty minutes.”
That might be okay for a one off event, but I don’t have an immediate need for medical attention.

It is an interesting offer, but I really like my home, all my stuff is here.

Well, clearly you do, if you’re suggesting suicide as a solution to your problems.

    Comment by David Castor — June 25, 2007 @ 10:33 pm
  14. I have never said anything about suicide.

    Results 1 – 1 of 1 from drchaotica.blogspot.com for suicide.

The result is me quoting mr emblazoned….

    Comment by Dr. Chaotica — June 26, 2007 @ 4:20 am
  15. Well, I’d suggest that setting a countdown until the deadline, with “dead” in bold could lead to the reasonable inference that you intend suicide if the said goals are not met in this timeframe. If not, then please correct my misinterpretation.

  16. You forgot about the Alice in Chains quote, and the title on the sidebar – although greek might not be your forte.

    Comment by Dr. Chaotica — June 26, 2007 @ 6:41 pm
  17. Well I understand enough Greek to know what you wrote but was wondering whether the grammar was correct. Also, considering that the word you use for “end” might also be rendered “the perfect” there’s a little ambiguity there.

  18. “there’s a little ambiguity there.”
    Yes. There is.
