In the world, but not of the world.

Today, I ventured once again into the outside world. It was an interesting experience as usual. Thinking about made me realise how true the cliche of this blog title is for me.
Firstly, my outfit. Faded black jeans. Black boots. Black Slayer T-shirt. Not the current fashion.
Secondly, watching the trailers before the film I just didn’t even think about the possibility of laughing when the rest of the laugh track cinemagoers did. This was most pronounced during “I now pronounce you chuck and larry”, but also during the “Simpsons Movie”.
Thirdly, why do the dorky/nerdy/uncool male characters always seem to want the slutty, shallow, starving, whorebag, cheerleader-type? Other than the obvious being out of their “league”, who the fuck has even an ounce of respect for someone like that? Sure, sex with a diseased skeleton does have some kind of gothic charm, but every movie seems to be set in universe where every guy is chasing this one bitch. I’ll take a smart fat chick over a paris hilton trendy-cunt any day of the week.
Fourthly, Starscream should of had more than one line. But at least he is the Decepticon who didn’t die in the film ;-)
*SPOILERS FOR YOU COWARDS WHO HAVEN’T SEEN THE MOVIE YET*
Actually, Dan, you’ll note that there were several Decepticons who didn’t die.
Scorponok doesn’t die, Barricade (the police car) doesn’t die, that crazy Sprite machine dude doesn’t die.
You’ll also note that Starscream had two lines: “I live to serve you Megatron” (a tongue in cheek comment, no doubt), and “The humans have taken it!” (referring to the All Spark, which Megatron had just quizzed him on). Nonetheless, I agree with your underlying sentiment.
As for the dude and cheerleader, I couldn’t really have cared less for them. You’ve got to remember though, there was more to her than met the eye. Anyway, Spike and Carly were, like, a bajillion times cooler, and Carly was a total ditz (and an MIT graduate). She was also, like, five years older than him.
Well…. starscream is the only one we see as surviving (unless we find out in the sequel it was actually Thundercracker or Thrust). It is implied that the other decepticons are cleaned up off camera, since optimus and the humans aren’t worried or looking for them.
He may of had 2 lines, but it was just that one scene-oid, my point being that starscream is defined by his rebellion and power struggles.
Yes there may have been more than meets the eye with this specific girl, but he was chasing her before he knew such details. Also it was general rant that male characters are either chasing the “cheerleader”, or are completely asexual. I’m only okay with such cheerleader chasing if someone has visited you from the future and said it must be done to save the world.
haha, I know I know. I especially agree that Starscream was screwed out of his proper role of compulsive opportunist in regards to usurping Megatron.
And, until cannon tells me otherwise, I’m sticking with the ‘Barricade survives’ story, since he was totally cool.
