No time to cry

(No no no) No time for heartache
(No no no) No time to run and hide
(No no no) No time for breaking down
(No no no) No time to cry

Somedays I wish I had the time. And someone to cry with.

My brain has returned to "stupid"

Uncategorized — frozensummers on August 28, 2007 at 4:49 am

It hasn’t been stupid for a very long time. Today it decided that it wanted to be stupid again.

In a strange coincidence, something today was connected to the last stupid time. This stupid time is very different to that last time, but it also isn’t.

I expect that this stupid time will end like the last. If it doesn’t then the moon of tonight will be your clue.

Too lazy to post…. so I’ll self quote my twitter feed.

I hate illnois nazis

I posted a new song over on chaotimusic.com. It is a jazzy ballad about the Reichstag fire that the nazis used to seize real ultimate power in germany.

The progression is one that I’ve been fooling around with for years. I can’t remember how it started, but I know I’ve played it as mood music during the Lords Supper at various points, I also think I may have used it for an assessment during my guitar subject (MUS207).

I actually really like how the song turned out, the acoustic guitar bits are either just me using the “fake acoustic” amp model in my Behringer X V-amp, or from me miking the Tele’O'Doom – that’d be the guitar solo at the start. It wasn’t intentional, I just forgot to switch the input in garageband back from the mic to linein – but it sounded cool so I used it.

I also really love the lead tone in the other parts – that’d be the modeled Vox AC30. It just sounds so tasty.

So…. go get the song. Tell your friends. Learn about history. Hear me play lots of guitar….

Insert Title Here

Uncategorized — frozensummers on August 25, 2007 at 5:03 am

Insert witty opening line. Ramble. Ramble some more. Say something self-deprecating, pretend it is a joke, but it isn’t. Babble in a way that goes from depressed to more depressed. Insert 4 dots….

Another witty remark or pop culture reference. Sarcasm. Inject nihilistic rant. Extend rant with deeply personal story. Exaggerate the negatives of the story. Use hindsight googles of despair +12.

Use bad analogy to compare the present to the ersatz past. Make hopeless comment. Threaten someone or everyone, preferably from the former ingroup (who are now the outgroup).

Generally act like a dick. Ask for help that will be ignored or refused if it isn’t the right kind of help. End in a defeatist, despondent, demoralised and dejected oblique alliterative reference to suicide.

Rinse and repeat.

Some sort of bizarre con game….

Classic video – refound via a whore in the temple of reason

Singing….

Uncategorized — frozensummers on August 23, 2007 at 5:23 am

Today I was writing the song for this week, started by completely overhauling the structure of what I wrote yesterday. I dropped the 4/4 bits completely (they were cool, but didn’t fit with the overall mood of the song) and rearranged the rest.

Then I wrote the lyrical bits.

The verses were fine, and the whisper-screaming chorus was cool – but lacking something. So I added a 3rd person repeat, as the chorus was 2 couplets in first person, with it going line-repeat-line-repeat. For the repeats I decided to go all falsetto…. I was expecting something with a power metal feel….

I didn’t get that…. maybe it was the fact that the song is in C Roumanian Minor, but it sounded all operatic. Which made it sound awesome.

Since I rearranged the guitar bits I need to re-record them, and record the bass (which is currently synth) also need to add the lead guitar, and possibly re-record the verse vocals.

The song is a classic fantasy tale of a plucky band of adventurers going on a quest to defeat evil…. and will be released eventually.

You were waiting for it…..

….and it happened. That tome of countenance will be my undoing.

In other news – I had a dream last night that I was late for class, strange adventures were had in the getting to the class. I remember that I picked up some NPCs to help along the way, and we all rode a mini-motorbike at one point.

I’d comment on the content, but I don’t usually remember my dreams…. or I don’t often have any. Which reminds me of a TNG episode – the wiki says it was called “Night Terrors” to quote: “Ever since their entrapment in the rift, none of the crew have been able to enter R.E.M. sleep; none of the crew have been able to dream. Without this natural function, they will all gradually go insane.”

Which might explain a few things….

Of course, my daydreams are much more interesting ;-)

That off kilter groove

Uncategorized — frozensummers on August 21, 2007 at 4:53 am

This is the first song I taught myself on the guitar….

I love the way the verse has a kinda stilted rhythm, while still being really fuckin fast…. it is almost a punk song. I also love how punchy the bass sounds in this specific clip….

Of course, I could once play at least the main riffs for the whole kill ‘em all album…. and this one time, I inserted the chorus from the Four Horsemen into a solo acoustic version of I can only imagine.

That of course was back in the dark ages. Now I spend my days rejecting the stupid pamphlets, writing my own songs and generally being evil – except of course when I’m being nice to the cute girls in class ;-) Don’t stop for nothing it’s full speed or nothing….

This week I will be in 6/8

Uncategorized — frozensummers on August 20, 2007 at 5:32 am

Time signature that is. Garageband doesn’t come with any drum loops in 6/8, so I wrote a bunch myself on the train today. So the song I will write this week already has a rhythm.

Of course, I did insert some standard 4/4 in the song. Now, I know that garageband doesn’t allow time signature changing…. but it can still be done, you just have to be tricky aboot it.

I’m also thinking this song will have a string section, and my awesome falsetto vocal stylings…. because once you start down the progressive rock tangent, you might as well go all the way. Now I just need midgets dressed as druids….
