Blinkenlights

Uncategorized — frozensummers on May 28, 2008 at 1:35 am

I hate the blinkenlights.

I hate that I have to spend 5 minutes every night covering up various things that glow or pulse or flash because they can.

I wish that all electronic devices had an option or switch that I could flick so that the light could go away. I don’t need a pulsing light to tell me that my mac is on at night…. I know it is, I told it to stay awake and do the bittorrent. Same thing with the magsafe powersupply – yes, the mac is charged, I don’t need the green glow to tell me. Same with the flashing light on the external hard-drive.

Grrr…. I understand that these lights serve a purpose, I just wish they all had a nighttime mode that made them go away and not keep me awake.

Conformity

Uncategorized — frozensummers on May 27, 2008 at 4:44 am

Sometimes, I wish I could pull a lever or something…. one that would shift my brain out of the looking glass and back into the real world.

At times I wish I could just conform, but even if I woke up one day and turned over the same leaf as everyone else I couldn’t conform. My past history of non-conformity would still be with me, and it would prevent such a path from being taken.

For instance, my lack of experience in anything that could be considered a real job would make getting a normal job impossible. I know, because I have pursued such avenues without success…. just sucking.

Sure it would be nice to have a steady income, and my own place and all such stuff that would go along with conformity…. but the real reason is that I look damn good in a suit.

Or so it is said….

Quote of the Day – Unexpected Compliment Edition

“Students found Daisy He & Dan Summers to be good tutors.”

From the Minutes of the latest 100-Level Liaison Committee Meeting.

Quote of the Week

Uncategorized — frozensummers on May 20, 2008 at 4:34 am

“If only Steven Spielberg had said “No thanks, George, I’m not into corpse fucking.”"

From CHUD….

And yeah, I ain’t seeing that movie, at least not in the cinematorium (unless it is free, cos I’ll see anything for free)

Five

Uncategorized — frozensummers on May 19, 2008 at 3:56 am

Just five more downloads and I will reach 2000 total.

Of what? My free music downloads at chaotimusic.com

I’ve been writing a song a week for 43 straight weeks now…. If you know what music I like, its like that, but filtered, mixed and made weirdly awesome thru my “unique” brain.

Imagine Frank Zappa and Devin Townsend had a love child…. who was then subjected to a series of secret government experiments…. then said love child was locked in a cave with a guitar, bass, microphone and mac…. that is the best description I could give….

I call the genre Experimetal….

The Cross is Folly

Uncategorized — frozensummers on May 15, 2008 at 8:56 pm

Why is it that mens jewellery is dominated by religious iconography? 75% of pendants are a cross, with most of the rest being some kind of pagan symbol (like a pentacle or ankh). Not that there is anything wrong with such things, I just can’t bring myself to wear anything that started life as a religious symbol.

Of course, there are the cliched non-religious symbols – skull, bullet, hemp leaf, dogtag, dragon…. but they really don’t fit with my personal style.

Now I could go into a rant that anything even vaguely cool would be destroyed instantly because of my unique biochemistry and its cheap metalness. But all that needs to be said is that inferior quality metal and me don’t mix….

The worst thing is that I’ve never seen a good black metal style inverted cross…. That’d be cool….

The Egg Came First

Uncategorized — frozensummers on May 15, 2008 at 2:22 am

Dinosaurs laid eggs.

Dinosaurs existed millions of years before chickens.

Therefore the egg came before the chicken

Therefore the phrase is done.

Therefore using it should be a criminal offense

The rule of no options

Uncategorized — frozensummers on May 12, 2008 at 4:44 am

The rule of no options is simply this: when there is no available option but to break a rule, the rule is ethically breakable.

Example: When at a train station where all bins have been removed, littering is no longer immoral.

There are many applications for this rule, imagine for instance the starving man stealing a loaf of bread for his family. Totally the right thing to do in that situation, even if it is breaking the absolute rule to not steal.

Approaching Two Thousand

Uncategorized — frozensummers on May 7, 2008 at 5:30 pm

I currently have 1912 total “downloads” of my music over at Chaotimusic.com and I’d like to get to 2000 (and then 10000, and then 100000). For those new to the game, that is where I’ve been writing, recording and releasing a new song every week for 41 weeks in a row (so far).

So….

  • If you’ve never listened to one of my songs, go listen to one (or all).
  • If you’ve listened to my stuff way back, and haven’t listened recently go and listen to one of the more recent songs
  • If you listened to most/all of my stuff, tell someone else about it…. preferably someone who might like it too
  • If you are a rich fan of my music, please give me a big bag full of cash so I can promote my free stuff as much as Mr Reznor does

KTHXBAI….
